Meet our Kanga Studio Co-Founder Emma Bonnici!
Emma has been studying Yoga and Ayurveda for over 12 years. She teaches with enthusiasm, care and attention to detail. This brings knowledge from her own personal practice, which provides strong encouragement and support for all of her participants. Emma’s Yoga practice has always been inspired by her Indian teachers of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Sivanada, Iyengar Yoga & Ayurveda.
Since 2006, she has been travelling between India, Kenya and the UK. During her travels and studies of Ayurveda, she really grasped the essence of teaching according to an individual’s body type and from the healing power music. Emma believes our energy changes according to the place we live; the seasons and our lifestyle. She focuses on the energy of the students in her classes and incorporates elements of the different yoga practices with music into each class. Upon her return to the UK in 2009 to run Kanga Events, her classes became remarkably referred to as ‘Kanga Yoga’ by many studios in London.
Kanga Yoga is an energetic, alignment‐based flow yoga practice using music, gravity and breath, to rediscover and rejuvenate the body and mind. Kanga Yoga adapts the practice to the individual and integrates sound into the practice to bring the body and mind into balance and harmony.
Emma is dedicated in and passionate about improving people’s lives and empowering communities through the teachings of Yoga and Ayurveda. From her own experiences, she has learnt the importance and healing benefits of self-love. Emma is inspired to help others discover the true bliss that already lies within them. She is actively involved in community outreach projects across East Africa and India. She is also the lead yoga teacher of The Yoga Jam. The Yoga Jam is a creative fusion of contemporary beats and rhythms with ancient Sanskrit mantras, yoga & meditation, which presents the perfect blend of sound and silence with movement and stillness.
