The Mother’s Journey training explores the mother’s range of experiences from pre-conceptional consciousness to care of the mother and her child after the birth and up to one year post natal.
The Journey is divided into 5 compulsory modules for certification, should you desire to teach Pregnancy Yoga classes, and an optional 6th weekend covering relations between parents and child rearing from age 1 to 7.
The Basics of the Course.
Module 1. Embarking on the Journey. This module explores conscious relationships: sexuality and its expression, the lunar cycle, fertility, lifestyle, conscious conception, incarnation, a mother´s prayer, and the journey of the soul. We also look at: how to release grief, guilt and shame around abortion and miscarriage and previous losses. Healthy diet, yoga and meditation are featured on this weekend.
Module 2. Yoga in Pregnancy. In this module we look at how the consciousness and needs of the mother change in the 3 trimesters, including how the body changes. Working with the emotions that arise, we will gain an understanding gestational trauma and it’s impact on the unborn child. Conscious relationships in this module also includes sexual expression during pregnancy. We will look at healthy eating for the pregnant mother and also minor ailments and remedies, including herbs and homeopathy. We will chant and dance. The Alternative Baby Shower. Kundalini Yoga kriyas, postures and their alternatives, mantra and meditation techniques.
Module 3. The Dynamics of Labour. The Dynamics of Labour and Preparation for birth as an initiation. Ceremony, rituals and support for the mother, including getting the help you need and understanding how to use it. A large part of this module will explore working with altered states of consciousness to support the labour process: meditations to help you trust your body. Working with endorphins, dopamine and strong meditations for bearing the expansion of labour. What does a hospital birth entail: How to get the best out of the labour experience. Exploring the role of the doula, pre and post-natally and bringing others into the labour room. Partners and the best postures for labour. The Empowered Cesarian. What are your options with the placenta.
Module 4. The Post Natal Phase. The Post Natal Phase: The mother’s initiation.
The Puerperium: the 40 day postnatal period. Bonding with the newborn and post-cesarian recovery. Making the most of the support offered for the challenges the mother can face. Supportive ways to eat and drink for breastfeeding.Gently returning strength to the body, including which exercises and when.Supporting the breastfeeding mother. What to do in the post-natal blues and if depression lurks, including danger signs for mother’s who loose their way. Wrapping the body and mothering the mother.
Module 5. Leadership and Liberation for Women. Leadership and Liberation for Women. Facilitating women only groups, menstrual meditation techniques to strengthen one´s stability, who are we, individually, shadow work and empowerment, women and the power of ceremony. It is an intense personal exploration of our self-concepts, our unspoken contracts and unconscious agreements with our family of origin and our family of choice. We will explore intimacy, anger, fear and resentments. The first day is spent descending in to the rings of our internal hell and darkness, to enable us to come to terms with who we really are, what we block ourselves from, what we carry that no longer serves. The second day focuses on moving forward. Re-contracting with our history, expanding out of roles that no longer serve us. We look at how to run classes, to serve the community, to be a role model for others. his includes work on self-parenting. You create your reality. If you do not like it, change it. Much of this weekend is done in group work. We end the weekend by making our own plan for moving forward.
Module 6. The Upbringing of Parents. Conscious Parenting: early childhood and beyond, family nutrition, respectful communication, sibling jealousy, love and affection, communication skills, family karmas, yoga for children. We explore the effects of gestational and generational trauma and how to deal with these effects in our relationship with our partner and our children.
In Netherlands the theme of the 6th Module is “The Numbers of the Journey” and is a Karam Kriya approach to the subject of the course.
