Join our beautifully crafted ceremony around the time of the Spring Equinox. We gather to dance and celebrate the return of the light after the depth and darkness of the winter months. A special pilgrimage into the countryside as we gather in the Roundhouse – a sacred ceremonial space surrounded by beautiful woodlands.
It’s the time of new beginnings and we come together to experience the power of ritual and renewal. We plant the seeds of our intentions and lift our prayers through the wisdom of the moving body. We open ourselves to receive insight and vision and dance for healing on a personal, relational, community and spiritual level.
To celebrate this special time of year, we will work with the beautiful heart opening medicine of Cacao. Cacao has been used as far back as 1900BC as a health elixir and ceremonial medicine by our Central American ancestors to heal the mental, physical and spiritual body. (More info below)
“I have now experienced a whole cycle of Mira’s Movement Medicine Cacao Ceremonies, from Winter Solstice 2018-19. It is deep, profound magic. I so appreciate the opportunity to witness my cyclical life through the lens of prayerful embodied ceremony. Mira is a medicine maker and deeply intuitive space holder who I feel fully supported and held by. I can completely let go in her space, knowing that she is acutely, humbly and lovingly aware of all that is unfolding. I feel honoured to be witnessed and to witness myself and others during these powerful portals of time. There is really nothing I would rather be doing on power portal points of time than prayerfully dancing with soul family.” – Tori
“In these ceremonies I find the resources I need to respond to life mindfully and take inspired actions.” – Irina
“A powerful and moving experience… a space where we could manifest our deepest held dreams…” – Matt
“The cacao was amazingly good!” – Carina
ABOUT MOVEMENT MEDICINE
Movement Medicine is a practice which directs our awareness to our movement, thoughts and feelings, supporting us to get more in touch with who we really are. It is an active and embodied meditation practice, opening the way to deep internal reflection. Through the dance we are invited on a journey of personal empowerment, relationship with community and connection with the creative life force within and around us. Ya’Acov and Susannah Darling Khan, founded the School of Movement Medicine, integrating their experience with a lineage of practices such as Shamanism, 5Rhythms, Gestalt Psychotherapy and Constellation work.
Mira is a Movement Medicine teacher and intuitively weaves from the rich tapestry of her experience as a dancer, therapist and artist. She creates a safe and sacred space for you to let go into the transformative power of the dance, deepening your connection to the creative life force within and around us. Mira also completed the advanced MM trainings which includes working with Ritual and Ceremony.
ABOUT YOUR INTENTION
In the days leading up to the ceremony, create some time to connect to your personal intention. What are you dancing for?
On arrival you will have the opportunity to be smudged – an ancient tradition of burning sacred plants/ wood and allowing the smoke to clear and bless your energetic field.
As we work with Cacao in an intentional way, we peel away the layers and come into deeper connection with our emotional centre and the intelligence of our own hearts. Aside from it’s many physical health benefits (vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, immune system boosting etc) – it is a powerful yet gentle plant medicine that supports our inner-work and facilitates a deep inner meditation. The mood enhancing neurotransmitters in Cacao has a nourishing effect on humans – opening body, mind and heart.

ABOUT THE ROUNDHOUSE
The Roundhouse near Hemel Hempstead is a beautiful sacred space which was born out of a deep ongoing prayer. It is imbued with love and joy and feels like a perfect fit for Movement Medicine. Structurally, the Roundhouse is a handmade and community made straw bale and green oak roundhouse. Its walls are rendered internally with clay and externally with lime render. The floor is made with a clay, sand and straw earthen floor, heated by water underfloor heating, powered by solar panels and air sourced heat pump.

EATING & DRINKING

***This is a drug and alcohol free event.
MINDFULNESS IN HOW WE USE CACAO
Movement Medicine Ceremony in it self is a very strong container in which we come into a deep embodied prayer space. Your movement IS the medicine. On some events we choose to include the beautiful medicine of ceremonial cacao as our ally to support our journey. It is each individuals free choice if they want to imbibe the cacao and your responsibility to take the necessary steps to ensure your own wellbeing.
Our delicious blend includes tahini (sesame seeds), date syrup and spices.
If due to intolerance you prefer to have only cacao please email me 24 hours prior to the ceremony – email@example.com
Please be aware of the following when drinking ceremonial cacao:
Cacao is a stimulant – so you may want to start with less and then gradually increase to find the balance that works for you.
Arrive hydrated and avoid caffeine or other stimulants on the day and alcohol the night before.
Eat something light a few hours before the ceremony and then we suggest you refrain from eating so that the cacao can be easily absorbed.
Certain medications such as some SSRI and MAO inhibitor antidepressants do not mix well with cacao due to the tyramine in chocolate.
If you have high blood pressure or a heart condition, please be aware that the active ingredient theobromine increases heart rate and lowers blood pressure.
Please consult with your doctor/ medical professional regarding higher doses of cacao.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to take a lower dose due to the stimulating effect of cacao.
WHAT TO BRING
***Due to limited space in the Roundhouse we ask that you bring the bare essentials into the space and to leave the rest in the main house or in your car.
We invite you to wear something special to make it clear that you are going into ceremony. Loose comfortable clothes for moving is always best. We dance barefoot in the Roundhouse.
The ceremony is grounded within the Movement Medicine teachings. It is good to have a grounding and understanding of movement practice.
Please do not chat during the ceremony. We hold a collective focus during the ceremony and only talk if absolutely necessary and then in a quiet whisper.
Closer to the time of the ceremony you will receive an email from me with reminders and further practical details.
If you have any further questions, please email Mira at firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to welcome you in this special dance ceremony.
