A wonderful workshop to celebrate the beginning of the winter festivities together with Fotini Vasilopoulos.
Fotini will guide you to use asana and therapy-based ball work to help release old holding patterns and areas of tightness, unwinding the fascial web to restore freedom and lightness in the body in preparation for winter.
Working deep to affect the fascia, a fibrous membrane that envelops our entire body and reflects our habitual patterns, this workshop aims to be a gateway into the Kidney and Urinary Bladder meridians for combating depleting energy in the body.”
Taking a multi-layered approach towards releasing the fascia, we will move through a grounding Yin sequence to promote restoration of connective tissue and support for the body whilst exploring physical edges, following with a self myo-fascial release using therapy- based ball. This session will conclude in a guided Yoga Nidra practice to cultivate a deep feeling of calm, relaxation and an overall sense of wellbeing.
Yin yoga is a slow, exploratory and listening practice where grounding positions are long held to revitalise the energy body through associated meridian channels. With the focus on connective tissue stimulation, an edge may be identified during deeply held stretches or through gentle compression in the body. Yoga Nidra explores a conscious state of deep sleep as the body is settled into a relaxed position of choice.
According to Chinese medicine, the Kidney and Urinary Bladder meridian which governs our body’s most basic and fundamental energy. By promoting proper health and functioning of this pair of meridians we can prepare the body for winter. The Kidney and Urinary Bladder meridians resonate with the winter equinox and the element of water which is associated with time of rest and our ability to flow and to overcome obstacles just like water does.
Open to all levels.
